Biography

Dr. Zheng is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Prior to joining CityU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Module Coordinator at the Future Cities Lab Global in Singapore-ETH Centre. He was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Award upon completing his bachelor's degree in Architecture at Chongqing University in China. He earned a Master's degree in Architecture from Southeast University in China, and later attained his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Built Environment, Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Possessing a dual background in Architecture and Building Science, his research primarily explores the interaction between urban climates and building thermal performance, with the overall aim of providing a sustainable, low-carbon, and energy-efficient built environment and other enclosures. Dr. Zheng has published more than 30 journal papers indexed by SCI or SSCI journals. He serves as a youth Editorial Board Member of journal Building Simulation (SCI Q1, IF=6.2) and Early Career Editorial Board Member of Architectural Intelligence, and reviewer of more than 30 international SCI journals, such as Building and Environment, Journal of Wind Engineering & Industrial Aerodynamics, Sustainable Cities and Society, Atmospheric Environment, Energy and Buildings, etc.

2. Requirements 对候选人的要求

2). According to the department policy, full scholarships will be preferentially funded to students who meet one or more of the following conditions 根据院系政策,博士生全额奖学金将优先资助符合以下两种条件之一的本科或硕士生:

a. Graduated with a bachelor's degree from double first-class Category A (with an average score of 85) in Mainland China or a top 100 university in the world (with a GPA of 3.5). For non-Chinese applicants, one of the top-5 Graduates with a bachelor's degree from a top-5 University in your country.
本科就读/毕业于内地双一流A类(且均分达到85)或全球前100高校(且GPA达到3.5),或非中国籍学生本科就读/毕业于该国排名前5的高校且位于专业前5名。

b. Published high-level SCI Q1 papers as the first author, co-first author, or corresponding author. 以一作、共同一作、或通讯作者发表过高水平SCI Q1论文。

We support outstanding candidates to apply for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) 支持特别优秀的候选人取得港府奖学金。港府奖学金看重第一学历/高均分和国家奖学金(内地高校)。

3). 3). The normal PhD scholarship is approximately 215,000 HKD per year. Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) has a yearly stipend of approximately 330,000 HKD 若获得全奖录取,每年奖学金约21.5万港币,共计4年。若获得港府奖学金录取,每年奖学金约33万港币并豁免学费。带薪研究助理的收入与全奖博士生收入相仿。

4). Postdoctoral research fellow 博士后待遇:

The salary of regular postdoctoral researcher, monthly 20000~30000 HKD, depending on the experience [No position at the moment].

The salary of Hong Kong Scholars Program (for researchers currently working in Mainland China): The employment period is two years, with a total amount of RMB 360,000 + HKD 440,000.

RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (outstanding candidate): monthly salary of 35000 HKD.

4. About Joint PhD Programme 关于内地高校联合培养双学位博士

CityU has established Mainland Collaboration Schemes — Joint PhD Programme. During the candidature of the Joint PhD Programmme, students will study at home university, CityU’s main campus in HK and designated study locations in Mainland, which currently includes USTC–CityU Joint Advanced Research Centre (Suzhou) and CityU Shenzhen Research Institute.

港城大已与内地20多所高校设立联合培养计划。已在内地合作院校就读的博士生,欢迎申请联合培养。被该项目录取的学生将于次年9月入学。修读联培项目期间,学生将在原属院校、港城大(香港本部) 及位于内地的学习地点就学,目前包括中国科学技术大学—香港城市大学联合高等研究中心(苏州)和香港城市大学深圳研究院。港城2年期间提供全额奖学金。毕业获得两校博士学位。作为海外经历,毕业生可获内地多处推出的海外留学人才计划资助。
