Biography
Dr. Xin Gai received his B.E. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University (ZJU), Hangzhou, China, in 2007 and obtained his PhD degree in Physics from the Australian National University (ANU), Australia, in 2013. Since then he has started his academic career as Postdoctoral Fellow at ANU and have been promoted to Research Fellow from 2015. His PhD and postdoctoral projects are closely related to Flagship Projects of Centre for Ultrahigh Bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS), an Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence (2003-2017, AUD $50M). In February 2018, Xin joined the City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering. His research interests and expertise include near & mid-infrared photonics, chalcogenide glasses, bio-photonics, nano-fabrication and nonlinear optics. He is going to apply his multidisciplinary expertise for advanced bio-sensing, medical imaging and spectroscopic diagnosis.
