Biography
Prof. Xin WANG received his B.Eng. (1994) and MPhil (1997) degrees in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Zhejiang University, and Ph. D (2002) in Chemical Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. From 2003 to 2005, he worked as a research fellow at University of California, Riverside, and concurrently, as R&D director for a start-up fuel cell company. He joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) as an assistant professor in 2005 and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2010 and full professor in 2016. He had served various roles during his tenure with NTU, including Co-Chair of the interdisciplinary School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Chair of the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, and Associate Dean (Research) at College of Engineering. He was appointed as the Cheng Tsang Man Chair Professor in Energy in 2022. He moved to City University of Hong Kong as Chair Professor of Electrochemistry and Head of CHEM on 20 Mar 2023. He serves as Dean of College of Science since 1 Apr 2024.
Prof. Wang has research interest in nanostructure control, surface functionalization and interface tuning for selective electrocatalysis towards key electrochemical reactions for energy and environmental applications. He has published >260 papers with a total citation of > 48000 and a h-index of 103 (Google scholar). He serves as an associate editor for Carbon Energy (Wiley). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore, a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) and has been a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher since 2018. He is a winner of Mitsui Chemicals-SNIC Industry Award in Materials and Nano-Chemistry 2021 and Nanyang Research Award 2021. He is currently a Global STEM professor and Director of JC STEM Lab of Electrocatalysis and Electrosynthesis.
