Biography

Dr. Du's research is focused on laser material processing, novel laser beam control methods and applications in advanced manufacturing, such as in-situ detection and additive manufacturing. Her recent research includes the development of adaptive optical devices based on piezoelectric and liquid resonance, and the implementation of dynamic beam shaping methods for optical sensing and laser processing applications.

Dr. Du received PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Princeton University, USA. She obtained BEng in Mechanical Engineering and BBA in Business Management from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

I am recruiting highly motivated Postdocs and PhD students in the Department of Systems Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Potential research areas include but are not limited to the following: mechanical and optical design of adaptive optical elements, laser 3D manufacturing, metal powder bed fusion, and industrial optical inspection.
