    Biography

Valentina completed her Ph.D at City University of Hong Kong in 2019, supported by an HKPFS Fellowship from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Her research investigated the politics of new mapping technologies through the lens of ontological realism, focusing on Jerusalem as a case study.

Prior to her PhD, she worked as GIS and mapping assistant for Grassroots Jerusalem, an NGO that seeks to amplify Palestinian perspectives through mapping and advocacy. She holds a Masters in urban studies from University College London, and a BSc in Architecture from the Berlin University of Technology.
