Biography

Dave received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto and obtained his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prior to joining the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, he conducted and coordinated research works at the University of Delaware. His research interests include fate and transport of emerging contaminants (polar and bioactive organic chemicals, organometallic compounds, ionic liquids, and nanoparticles) in aquatic and terrestrial environments, system modeling of biotransformation and bioaccumulation of organic compounds, bioavailability of weathered contaminants, mechanistic modeling of toxicological and ecotoxicological end-points, and quantitative characterization of nano- to micron-scale components in environmental matrices.

Dr. Kuo is member of American Chemical Society (ACS), Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
