Biography

Prof. Takashi Hibiki received his BS in 1985 with the highest distinction and Ph. D. in 1990 from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Osaka University, Japan. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of Purdue University in the US. Prof. Hibiki was an instructor and associate professor at Kyoto University from 1990 to 2006 and a full professor at Purdue University from 2006 to 2018. Prof. Hibiki is known as an international expert of two-phase flow modeling and developed more than 100 constitutive equations for two-phase flow analysis. He has authored 269 journal papers and 197 conference papers, and one of his research papers is ranked as No.1 of most cited articles in the International Journal of Multiphase Flow. Prof. Hibiki was named as Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow in 2015, American Nuclear Society Fellow in 2011, and The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellow in 2021. Prof. Hibiki received 15 academic awards, including the 2016 Award for Eminent Achievements in Nuclear Science and Technology from Atomic Energy Society of Japan (the highest honor in AESJ) and the 2001 Young Member Engineering Achievement Award from American Nuclear Society (the highest honor for ANS members younger than 40 years old). Prof. Hibiki served as a distinguished professor at Chulalongkorn University, guest professor at Kyoto University and Osaka University, and adjunct professor at RMIT University, Pusan National University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University.
