Biography

Dr. Kim obtained her Ph.D. in the School of Social Service Administration (Social Work), University of Chicago. Her research agenda is to 1) understand the etiology and underlying mechanisms of youth developmental outcomes (i.e., mental health outcomes, school outcomes, problem behaviors), with a particular focus on contextual influence (e.g., family, peer, school, community), 2) examine racial/ethnic disparities in youth development, and 3) develop appropriate preventive interventions critical to promote healthy development of disadvantaged youth, such as ethnic-minority/immigrant youth and economically disadvantaged youth.
