Metrics for Academic and Research Impact

Dr Sarah Rosanowski earned her Bachelor’s degree, Post Graduate Diploma in veterinary clinical studies (with distinction) and PhD at Massey University, New Zealand. Her PhD investigated the preparedness of the New Zealand equine industry for an exotic disease incursion, which has led to the development of the government strategy in the event of such an outbreak.  She undertook post-doctoral research at the Royal Veterinary College investigating the environmental and genetic contributions to race-day injury risk, in flat racing horses.  During her time in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Dr Rosanowski has collaborated with stakeholders in the racing industry, including veterinarians at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.  Dr Rosanowski is now an Assistant Professor in Evidence-Based Veterinary Medicine at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences.

Dr Rosanowski’s research background has been varied, from developing diagnostic tests for gastrointestinal parasitism in sheep, to identifying fear and anxiety in companion animals attending veterinary clinics and exotic disease outbreak investigation in Kiwifruit. She is particularly interested in equine epidemiology and has worked for a number of years on racehorse-based research, including racehorse welfare and injury related projects, and she thrives on collaborative projects with veterinarians from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Singapore Turf Club, and the British Horseracing Authority.  She continues to have an interest in exotic disease preparedness, with an on-going collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College.

Dr Rosanowski currently leads and teaches VM2100 - Biostatistics for Veterinarians, VM2002 - Animal Welfare 1 and VM3004 - Evidence-Based Veterinary Medicine. She provides teaching for VM2003 - Extensive Livestock Production, VM2001 - One Health and the pre-EMS and EMS programmes.
