Biography

Prof. Pingan Zhu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), where he leads the Adaptive Interfacial and Multiphysical Systems (AIMS) Laboratory. His research is centered on the emerging field of Interfacial Physical Intelligence (IPI), which seeks to understand and engineer how physical systems acquire functionality through the interplay of interfaces, structures, and multiphysical interactions. His work advances the fundamental physics and engineering of microscale flows, interfacial phenomena, and architected multiphysical systems, with emerging directions spanning droplet dynamics, capillary transport, soft matter systems, and bioinspired micro/nanorobotics.
