Biography

Prof. Ning Liu is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Prior to this position, he was a postdoc at Princeton University from 2020 to 2024, and he earned his PhD degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Virginia in 2020.

His research mainly focuses on ultrafast laser spectroscopy and 3D imaging with application to electrified manufacturing (e.g., plasma). He has published papers in prestigious journals as leading authors, e.g., Nature, Nature Communications, ACS Energy Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Optics Letters, Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, etc. His research has been highlighted or reported by Nature Video, Nature Synthesis, and Chemistry World, etc.

He is active in multiple professional organizations including Optica, AIAA, and the Combustion Institute. He serves as a reviewer on multiple journals, e.g., Optics Letters/Express, Combustion and Flame, ACS Nano and AIAA Journal, etc.
