Biography

I specialize in disaster management and climate change adaptation, with a regional focus on East Asia. With an interdisciplinary academic background and professional training in disaster safety and policy studies, I am currently serving as a Visiting Fellow at City University of Hong Kong. I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses on sustainable development, international politics, and political science. Before joining CityUHK, I worked at international organizations such as UNESCAP (Bangkok) and the International Recovery Platform (Kobe), contributing to multilateral projects and knowledge exchange. My doctoral research, supported by the Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (SPRING) grant from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), examined gendered vulnerabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, disaster management systems, and community resilience across Japan, Korea, and China. This field-based, comparative research has been published in peer-reviewed outlets, including the SCIE-indexed International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction. Building on this foundation, my research focuses on how societies in East Asia can adapt to increasingly severe climate-related disasters, with particular attention to the experiences of vulnerable populations such as the elderly and women.
