Biography

Megan Olinger is a PhD Candidate in the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. Her research  focuses on the relationship between facial recognition, portrait photography, and citizenship. She explores the dynamic of facial recognition as a bordering practice and the methods by which rights claims can be evoked through the datafied face-image. Megan’s work engages with feminist techno-science, surveillance studies and computational photography.
