Biography

Max (Peng) Yin is the current assistant professor at the City University of Hong Kong, Mechanical Engineering Department. Previously he worked at the Robotics Institute (RI) of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as the project scientist for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) SubT Challenge, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Mars Landing, and Lifelong Navigation for NVIDIA. His works have been put into usage by NASA, DARPA, NVIDIA, etc. He also server as the reviewer for top robotics journal IEEE T-RO, IJRR, RAL, Science-Robotics and IROS/ICRA/RSS, etc. He’s research interest includes the following domains: Localization, Mapping, Navigation, and Decision Making for field robotics. From 2022 to now, the PI also create a non-profit organization MetaSLAM (https://metaslam.github.io/) to leverage the intelligent ability of world top-level researchers to build the General AI system for the service/field robotics.
