Biography
Professor Julia Beatty is Chair Professor of Veterinary Medicine and Infectious Diseases at City University’s Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. Julia is a graduate of University College London (BSc hons, Intercalated) and the Royal Veterinary College (BVetMed, 1989), University of London. She has worked as a veterinarian for the RSPCA before moving to the University of Glasgow where she completed a PhD (1994) and post-doctoral studies in feline virology. Julia is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Feline Medicine, and a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons-recognised clinical Specialist in Feline Medicine.
In 2004, Julia moved to the Faculty of Veterinary Science (now the Sydney School of Veterinary Science) at the University of Sydney, Australia, as Senior Lecturer, then Associate Professor, and Professor of Feline Medicine. Julia is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served in senior leadership roles at the university including Hospital Director, Head of Small Animal Medicine and Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences. She serves on the Board of the International Society of Companion Animal Infectious Diseases and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. Julia has served on the Veterinary Practitioners Board of New South Wales, Australia, and is a past-President of the Feline Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS). She is Professor Emerita at the University of Sydney.
