Biography
Dr. Jin-Soo Kim obtained Bachelor (2010) and Master (2013) degrees both in Seoul National University in South Korea. He worked 3 years as a researcher in the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology and Pohang University of Science and Technology for alternative service in an agency appointed by the Korean administration for Military Manpower Administration. He received his PhD in Climate Dynamics from the Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2019 with the Best Thesis Award in the field of Natural Science. His doctoral dissertation was focused on two-way interactions between terrestrial ecosystem and climate system including El Niño-Southern Oscillation-related carbon cycle, Arctic warming-related frost damage, and physiological forcing on Arctic amplification. Before joining the School of Energy and Environment, he worked on fire dynamics as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Edinburgh and Senior Researcher at the University of Zurich. Dr. Kim’s research is focusing on Climate System science, Earth System modelling, Terrestrial carbon cycle, Carbon-Climate feedback, and Fire dynamics.
