Biography

Prof. Jiaqi Liu is a Presidential Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Before joining CityUHK in 2025, she was a postdoctoral scholar in the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics at Northwestern University, working with Prof. John A. Rogers. She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Prof. Shu Yang in 2021. She obtained her B.S. in Materials Science from Fudan University in 2016. Her research focuses on leveraging functional soft materials, advanced manufacturing, ultrasound technology, and bioengineering approaches to advance multifunctional bio-integrated devices for measuring biological and biophysical signals, providing target modulation, and programming soft robotic actuators towards biomedical and healthcare applications. She has been selected as a Protostar by the weekly newsletter of Science magazine and has been awarded the Sidney J. Stein Prize and the Geoffrey Belton Graduate Fellowship by the University of Pennsylvania.
