Metrics for Academic and Research Impact

Jason Harding received his doctorate from King’s College, Cambridge. He was recruited as Head of the Department of English at CityU following a global executive search from Durham University (#29 QS World Subject Rankings) where he had been a full Professor since 2017. He is a leading world expert in Modern Literature and has published seven books with major scholarly presses: three with Cambridge University Press, two with Oxford University Press, and one by Faber and Faber and Johns Hopkins University Press, with two further monographs contracted to Princeton University Press and OUP. He has published many articles, essays and book chapters, including widely read research on Sino-Foreign inter-relations, and paid journalism in prestigious journals, The Times Literary Supplement, London Review of Books and Financial Times Weekend. He has appeared on the BBC and was a featured expert in a Sky Arts documentary. As a recipient of funds from a large AHRC grant (total value £984,932), he published a 1000 page volume in the award-winning The Complete Prose of T. S. Eliot which was praised in the Washington Post as “one of the most ambitious and revelatory scholarly achievements of our time.” He is currently working on a collaborative research project with the Digital Humanities cluster at Cambridge University titled “Redefining Creativity in an age of Intelligent Machines”.
