Biography

Jeremiah Palmerston earned a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Cognitive Science from the University of California in San Diego. During his undergraduate studies, Jeremiah worked on linear modelling of the parietal cortex to understand how the brain creates maps of familiar routes. After leaving UC San Diego, he joined the Sleep Neurobiology Laboratory at SRI International in Menlo Park, CA. In this position, Mr. Palmerston developed computational tools for non-invasive quantitative detection of neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. At SRI, Jeremiah helped develop new pharmacological therapies for various sleeping disorders such as Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, and Insomnia. During this time, he also worked to reveal the mechanisms behind sleep function through a basic science approach. Mr. Palmerston began studying towards a PhD in Electronic Engineering in September of 2016 at the City University of Hong Kong, where he continues work on Computational Neuroscience. Specifically developing Multi-Input Multi-Output systems for various levels of Human-Computer and Brain-Computer Interface, Mr. Palmerston’s research focus encompasses development of systems for enhancing learning and improving digital access for the physically or mentally impaired.
