Biography
Dr. Elsohaby is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health. He completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and Master of Veterinary Medical Science (MVSc) in Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases from the Zagazig University in Egypt, where he also worked as a Teaching Assistant for three years. Dr. Elsohaby subsequently moved to the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) in Canada, where he completed his PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology. He obtained a Graduate Certificate in One Health from Saskatchewan University in Canada while working on his PhD at UPEI.
Dr. Elsohaby has earned the Mitacs postdoctoral fellowship and joined the Department of Health Management at UPEI and Timeless Veterinary Systems Company as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Adjunct Faculty to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the tools used to measure IgG concretions in animals and humans.
Following his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Elsohaby worked with the Government of PEI in Canada as a Health Information Data Analyst at Health PEI to adapt and implement electronic synoptic pathology reporting for breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, and endometrial cancers. He later worked as Veterinary Epidemiologist for the Department of Agriculture and Land to develop analytical tools for data analysis, including algorithms for identifying disease clusters or outbreaks.
Dr. Elsohaby's research program focuses on using epidemiological, genomic tools, and the One Health approach to prevent and control emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases, including antimicrobial resistance. Over the last five years, Dr. Elsohaby has published more than 50 research papers in highly impacted peer-reviewed journals.
