Prof. SUN Hongyan (孫紅燕)
PhD (Singapore)
- Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry
Qualifications/Experiences
Core Member of Centre of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films
Biography
Dr. Sun received her B.Sc from Wuhan University and Ph.D from the National University of Singapore. Her Ph.D research focuses on systematic enzyme profiling using microarray strategy under the supervision of Professor Shao Qin Yao. She was granted a fellowship from Humboldt Foundation and carried out postdoc research with Professor Herbert Waldmann at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology. Her postdoc studies involve site-specific protein modification and target identification of natural products. She joined the City University of Hong Kong in July 2011. Her current research topics include
- Developing microarray-based screening platform.
To identify biologically active peptides using high-throughput screening technology. - Developing novel fluorescent probes for live cell imaging studies.
To design and synthesize fluorescent probes for bioimaging of various biomolecules. - Developing novel biomaterials for biological application.
To design and synthesize peptide-based biomaterials for controlled drug delivery and tissue engineering.
