Biography

Dr. WANG Feng obtained his BE (2001) and PhD (2006) degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University. His PhD thesis was focused on the synthesis and characterization of lanthanide-doped fluoride nanomaterials under the supervision of Prof. Minquan Wang and Prof. Xianping Fan. He then carried out postdoctoral research work with Prof. Xiaogang Liu at the National University of Singapore and the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering in Singapore. He joined the faculty of City University of Hong Kong in 2012.

Graduate study positions:

CityU admits graduate students centrally through the school of graduate studies and the admission is highly based on the GPA and publication records of the applicants. Exceptional candidates may be admitted through the the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship scheme that offers more competitive package.The applications are open for only one round per year (Deadline: December 10th each year for Fall semester admission in the following year).

Financial support for graduate students:
CityU studentships offer a stipend of $HKD 15,800 per month, 12 months per year, to all successful candidates. Good academic performance can qualify for the additional tuition scholarship and travel fund to attend interantional conferences.

English proficiency requirements of college of science and engineering:

  • a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based); or
  • a minimum overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS; or
  • a score of 490 in the Chinese mainland College English Test Band 6; or
  • other test scores that may be regarded as equivalent to TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based).
