Biography

Dr. Dengwu Jiao serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). He earned his B.Eng. from Shijiazhuang Tiedao University in 2014, and M.Sc. from China Building Materials Academy in 2017. In 2021, Dr. Jiao obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Ghent University, Belgium, and he also received the Doctoral Degree in Engineering from Hunan University, China. Prior to join CityU, Dr. Jiao has the experiences as a researcher at Belgium and Hong Kong. Dr. Jiao has participated in several major projects as a key member, including European Research Council (ERC) Advanced grant Horizon 2020 Project, National Key R&D Program of China, International S&T Cooperation Program of China, and Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund platform project. Dr. Jiao has published over 50 journal and conference papers, including 38 papers indexed by SCI journals. Dr. Jiao edited an English book titled “Rheology of Fresh Cement-based Materials: Fundamentals, Measurements, and Applications”, and authored 3 chapters in 2 other books. The Google Scholar citations is about 1400 with H-index of 17.

In 2018, Dr. Jiao received a full scholarship for doctoral students at Ghent University, funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Horizon 2020 project. He has been recognized with the Award of Hundred Excellent Doctoral Dissertations of Hunan Province, Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of Hunan University, and the honor of Excellent Graduate Student of Hunan Province. Dr. Jiao is a member of several committees of RILEM (including TC ACP, TC PCC, TC PFC, and TC 266-MRP), the Fellow of Hong Kong Concrete Institute (HKCI), and a member of Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) and International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM). Furthermore, Dr. Jiao serves as an Editorial Board Member of Buildings (SCI, IF=3.8), Youth Editorial Board Member of Materials Plus (Universal Wiser Publisher), and a reviewer for over 20 international SCI journals, such as Cement and Concrete Research, Cement and Concrete Composites, Construction and Building Materials, Materials and Structures, Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, etc.
