Biography
Bart Wissink is associate professor urban studies and urban policy. He received master degrees in urban planning (cum laude) and public administration (cum laude) and a PhD in social and behavioural sciences, all from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His research explores urban development in East and Southeast Asia. Previous research interests included enclave urbanism, urban controversies, and cities and the super-rich. Current projects focus on the consequences of entrepreneurial urban governance for the social role of art, with special attention for the politics of biennials, art and real estate development, and independent art spaces. Bart has held visiting appointments in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Tokyo and Paris.
