Biography

Dr Chaouch-Orozco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Translation at City University of Hong Kong, with an MA in Applied Linguistics from Jaen University, an MA in Psycholinguistics from the University of York, and a PhD in Psycholinguistics from the University of Reading.

His research centres on lexical-semantic processes in both monolinguals and bi-/multilinguals, exploring how these processes shape language use and intersect with culture, cognition, and affect. He addresses these questions through a combination of computational methods, network science tools, and psycholinguistic experiments, providing interdisciplinary insights into language and cognition.

In addition, his work investigates second language acquisition and processing, examining individual differences across diverse linguistic profiles and their effects on language use and production. He is also involved in developing tools for language proficiency assessment.
