Biography
Alejandro obtained his Bachelor's (Natural Sciences) and Master's (Neuroscience) degrees from the University of Cambridge in 2013 and University College London in 2014. He then carried out his PhD at the University of Cambridge, Department of Clinical Neurosciences under the supervision of Prof. James Fawcett and Prof. Kristian Franze, which he obtained in 2018. He later joined the laboratory of Prof. George Malliaras at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral researcher before joining CityU in 2026. He also holds a Bachelor's degree (Engineering) from the Open University. His research interests are the development of neurotechnologies such as implantable electrode arrays and biohybrid regenerative technologies for use in the peripheral nervous system, and in their application to restore function following injury.
