Description of impact
Epidemix is a free web application that allows users from different backgrounds to improve their understanding of mathematical disease modelling. It is used to explore key concepts of disease dynamics and control, and to explore how different types of models can be used to examine the spread of diseases in different populations. It includes generic models, as well as specific ones for COVID-19 in humans, African swine fever and avian influenza both in animals.
The application is used for teaching by CityU and other academic institutions to train veterinarians in the use of mathematical modelling to inform disease control decision making. It is also for self-learning by government and industry stakeholders.
