Description

Final project students supervised by Dr. Shiu Yin Kelvin YUEN have developed 3 iPhone/iPad apps that aid the visually impaired (VIP).  They are in app store for free download.  These apps empower the VIP to "see" music sheets without the need to learn music braille and to discuss with musicans using the same music sheets; to play Chinese chess; and to provide a route memory aid for navigation, especially internal navigation. These apps are under continuous refinements by final year students year by year.  New updated versions are rolling out after receiving feedback from the VIP community. Current collaborating units include Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society, Ebenezer School for the Visually Impaired, Ebenezer Music Academy, Hong Kong Blind Union, and Hong Kong Federation of the Blind. New apps that improve the quality of life of VIP are also under development. The apps are available in the following links:  Music Reader, Chinese Chess, Electronic Guide Dog.

The project is part of CityU Servant Leadership Training Programme http://www.cityu-sltp.hk/
