i-Cable News reported that CityUHK developed a high-power wireless charging device that uses nanocrystals to charge electric vehicles in as fast as three hours fully. The project was awarded a “Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury” at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva earlier in April.
The report quoted Professor Jiang Chaoqiang, Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, saying that in the future, cars can park themselves. Therefore, how to effectively and conveniently charge electric cars is important, and wireless charging technology can solve this problem.
It is predicted that the device will be available in the market next year, and the cost of installation is less than $10,000.
