Questioning Notions of the Obsolete in Landscapes of Extraction and Consumption

  • Emily Verla BOVINO (Invited Speaker)

Activity: Talk/lecture or presentationPresentation

Description

As part of exploratory research on curation in Hong Kong, my participation in this event involved listening to M.Arch students presenting their Final Design Thesis projects and presenting on the two that I found most compelling. In my selection, I was interested in the way students worked with the concept of 'obsolescence' in projects involving landscapes of extraction (quarries) and consumption (so-called 'dead malls'). I also participated in the review session to think more about ways of bringing projects by young architects together with works by emerging artists in exhibitions in Hong Kong.
