Activity: Talk/lecture or presentationTalk/lecture

Description

In this workshop, Peter Samis, Norbert Kanter, and Harald Kraemer – renown pioneers of multimedia applications in museums will give a comprehensive insight into the fascination and possibilities of the medium of the CD-ROM from 1993 to 2008. The former producers, directors and storyboard developers will comment on the variety and wealth of navigation, interface design, interactive storytelling in numerous international case studies. The Making of presents information on storyboard development, production and reception of the applications. As part of an extensive research project at the School of Creative Media of the City University of Hong Kong, many of these masterworks are currently being analyzed, categorized and archived thanks to the Virtual Box program. Especially for the younger generation, who hardly know these CD-ROMs, there is thus the opportunity to finally get acquainted with the history of Multimedia and to get to know and to try out these masterpieces of an interactive applied art. Only by knowing the past, it is avoided to reinvent the wheel. And for the older ones, it’s a reunion with some long-lost and cherished interactive content.
