Description
Using a specially-designed virtual learning environment (VLE), this online course at the University of Oxford's Department of Continuing Education provides participants with directed readings and tutor-guided, text-based discussions and debate investigating the power of maps and spatial data to document and illustrate local and global issues. Participants learn how to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to explore issues of interest and to share ideas. They apply GIS principles and tools to create their own maps from freely-available online spatial data or self-generated data.
