Design of a High-Torque-Density Dual-Permanent-Magnet-Excited Machine For Diret-Drive Applications

Activity: Talk/lecture or presentationPresentation

Description

This paper proposed a novel dual-permanent-magnet-excited (DPME) machine featuring hybrid stator teeth. Unlike conventional permanent magnet machines (PMMs), which incorporate magnets on either the stator or rotor, the proposed design integrates PMs on both sides, enabling bidirectional flux modulation to enhance torque density. This makes the machine particularly suited for high-torque, low-speed, direct-drive applications. The influence of key structural features on electromagnetic performance is first analyzed. A comparative study using finite element analysis (FEA) is then carried out against a conventional DPME machine with straight stator teeth, validating the performance advantages of the proposed design.
