DescriptionThe Textbook Revision Study is an annual survey undertaken by the Consumer Council to examine through panel assessment whether editorial changes made to a previous edition as found in revised textbooks are necessary for driving excellence in teaching and learning. The study sews an important monitoring purpose in the hope of discouraging unnecessary revision of textbooks. Unnecessary revisions does not only shorten the useful life of the old editions but also makes it impossible for used textbooks to be passed on and hence add to the financial burden of parents and students. The study enlists the support of education professionals to serve as panelists to critically compare old and revised versions of the sampled textbooks for purpose of the revision assessment.
