    Description

Case-based pedagogy is a common tool for business students to apply business concepts, making logical connections and devise feasible solutions to a real or imaginary scenario. A core competence at all stages is the ability to read cases and related research, write reports and make effective presentations. While case-based pedagogy is an effective teaching method in most of the business schools, faculty staff often faces the challenge of lacking the time and expertise to teach the skills of report writing and persuasive presentation. This presentation reports on a three-year collaboration between a faculty and an English-teaching staff on co-teaching a business course on alternate weeks. In order to allow for the achievement of multiple learning objectives in the acquisition of both subject knowledge and related English skills, the teaching team work on an agreed set of attributes, sets of knowledge and language skills; and integrate them into the assessment rubrics that are used both teachers in their feedback to reinforce the similar focus on knowledge and language competence. It also reports the survey and interview results of students’ self-perception of knowledge, skills and teamwork before and after the course.
